<q cite="The key is making it very easy for visitors to know what they are supposed to do, a few reminders of the benefits they’ll reap, and a clear path to the call-to-action.">

That is exactly right. However, with the huge number of unconfirmed email address's I have been noticing other email marketers complaining about recently, your landing page should be instructions on exactly how to confirm their email address, and or how to add you to thier whitelist.

THe problem is most marketers are using static thankyou pages, and not taking full advantage that they have the subscribers email address already, wither by means of a ookie, or the forward vars that most autoresponders provide.

With this information you can create a dynamic landing page that shows the subscriber exactly what they must do to confirm their email address and add you to their whitelist.

But not many people are doing this.
I know that right after building my whitelist wiz script and putting it to use my email confirmation rates increased significantly!!

Now my lists are between 85 - 90% confirmed!

This is a must do action for anyone in the email marketing game.

I worked for Augie at LifeFitness and it was the BEST job I have ever had in my life. Augie is a leader who is courageous, inspirational, fun, energetic, and a very kind man...I loved working with him and for him. I have told numerous people about Augie and have nothing but admiration for him.

When I think of Augie the one word that comes to my mind is "inspiration". He inspired all of us with his leadership, vision, and his belief that we could WIN. And, win we did. But more than winning, Augie had the love and respect of his employees. Everyone I know that I worked with at LifeFitness loves Augie. It's been 7 yrs since I've worked for Augie but I can tell you that all I have to do is shut my eyes and I can go back in time and see the warm, caring, and inspirational leader that led our company to great success.

All good things...come by grace... In my own journey I have learned that life holds deep and profound lessons...and that God still holds the key and can and will give Augie the miracle. We all need hope, faith, and love...and the greatest of these is love.

Augie we all love you...we have not forgotten you. You touched our life as a leader and you continue to touch our life with your courage!

Thanks for the link to the landing site tips!

I agree that the best way to test a landing page is to experience what the user does, but this may be tough if you are a meber of the development team.

Have someone from accounting test the landing page, or a colleague from another company.

The key is making it very easy for visitors to know what they are supposed to do, a few reminders of the benefits they'll reap, and a clear path to the call-to-action.

Thanks for your information. You are right, software marketing is a little bit easy if you try all the tips above. And the most important points is talking to your customer and try to keep them to always become your customer. Get new customer is more difficult than the existing one.

More people will use web 2.0 marketing as learn of results by competitors and understand how to implement these types of marketing projects. Many of them, if they were creative marketers, would already be there. It is in the nature of many to be cautious about new things, especially when they cannot take any credit for having thought of it.

It seems to me that using graphics for B2B email marketing just doesn't make sense when compared to a text only ecard. The graphics are intended to be eye catching and compel the recipient to read the actual card...which means that they are pretty much just taking up valuable real estate that will be most likely filtered out anyway. So what is the point in using masthead graphics at all - your paper implies that they should not be used for our marketing purposes.

I think that Subject lines should be the component of an ecard that requires the most scrutiny.

Here's an example of a TechTarget ecard I received today that makes no use of graphics at all and the subject line is what compelled me to read...and really may be the most important part of an ecard overall:

SUBJECT: Learn how to build an effective marketing strategy
BODY:

I hear you on the art and science part, but still am left wondering this:
Why does anyone bother with mastheads at all, and not just focus on content if so many filters block graphics?
Use us as your test bed, and let's gather the metrics.

Andrew,

I agree - it's the little things that set great customer service - or great service in general -apart from the masses. It's what brings clients back. Just be sure to be consistent in your efforts - nothing worth than providing outstanding service one day, and standard/average the next. It will confuse your clients who came back expecting a certain level of service, and it will also make it easier for them to leave you and find another provider.
As an add on though - kudos for noticing. So many people are so busy with themselves today, they might not have noticed the efforts made by their valet.
Btw - thanks for this post. I added it as a link in one of mine. (Hope you're ok with that?)

I like to write down a sort of time line of my interactions with a customer. Then I try to figure out there needs, and what there desires may be at the point. What could I do to meet them, and then what could I do to exceed them. Much of my plans having nothing to do with their expectation from me. It is nice to remember what else may be going on that has nothing to do with your interaction, and what can you do in that regard to go further.
You have provide a nice example for our consideration.
