Still blocked by Technorati…

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on February 8, 2008

I am still blocked from collecting any feeds from Technorati and STILL cannot access their site. I have contacted their support twice and no response. I had an individual contact me as a result of my blog postings about Technorati and still nothing. I was able to get to their site yesterday, but now its same old……403 forbidden error.

If you are a blogger or a person of influence in the blogosphere, I urge you to take note of all my postings about them and rally behind me to see if we can get Technorati to perhaps change their ways of blocking people and customer service.

Get with the program Technorati!!!

Here are my posts for your reference.

What is up with Technorati again?

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on January 23, 2008

I am blocked again (no feeds and I cannot get to their site), this is the third time in less than a year and the 2nd time in last 30 days. C’mon Technorati, get your act together. I am not a spammer or doing something illegal, I simply have alot of feeds and monitor a bunch of stuff.

Banned from Technorati…..again UPDATE

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on December 31, 2007

I guess Technorati decided not to block my IP anymore as I was able to access their site this morning. Never got an email back from them on this….it appears if they just flcked the switch.

Long live customer service.

Banned from Technorati…..again

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on December 27, 2007

History repeats itself I guess…back in July, my IP was banned from Technorati because I had too many pings to the site with all of the reputation monitoring I was doing. Well, I switched readers and now I cannot get any technorati search feeds. In fact, I cannot even access their site. All I get is forbidden error again.

I have emailed support but have not heard back from them.

Fix your crap Technorati……I am not a spammer and you should have noted that last time you blocked my IP.

Holiday SEO Poem

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on November 27, 2007

My good friends over at Webbed Marketing have this funny as heck holiday SEO poem that is a must read. It’s scary to think that my inner dork comes out and laughs at this stuff. For all you SEO nuts out there this is for you.

I will reprint some of it for you guys, but its best to go to their site and check it out for yourselves:

Twas the night before an algo change and I’m at my house
My laptop is on and I’m clicking my mouse
My title tags are crafted from keywords with care
In hopes that the Googlebot soon would be there

My keyword density was optimized to the specs
While my homepage featured rich visible text

With ma pouring link juice and me in whitehat
I’d just uploaded a new Google site map.

When out on the web there arose such a clatter
I checked my page serve time to see what was the matter

Away to my toolbar I typed on a mission
Searched on my keywords and checked my position

My site pages were slipping – it must be a new algo
Page two, three, four and five, and some further below,

When, what to my site should suddenly crawl
But an indexer, a bot, spider, a combination of them all

Rolling across the web with a new algo so hot
I knew in a moment it must be Googlebot

More rapid than eagles the SEOs they came,
And he crawled, and indexed, and called them by name;

I heard from Technorati….they did block me.

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on July 13, 2007

I heard back from their support folks and as it did turn out, they were blocking my IP from accessing their site.  It turns out that they were receiving a large number of queries from my IP in a short amount of time and as such to prevent bots, they blocked me out.  :-)

I guess that it doesn’t help that I have hundreds and hundreds of keyword watch lists for my company set up and I probably overloaded them one day.

All is well with technorati now, their support was great and I am glad we were able to get to the bottom of this quickly.

Long live the internet.

Back in the saddle again with Technorati

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on July 13, 2007

Looks like I can access the technorati site again. I was online at like midnight central and still nothing, but this morning, I was able to get to the home page with no issues. I was reading the support forums and it appears that they have had some issues lately, specifically around pinging, but it appears to have worked itself out.

Technorati update…..still cannot access

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on July 12, 2007

I wanted to update all of you on this. I can access the support forums of technorati, but I cannot get to their homepage, my profile or anywhere. I have sent and email to their support person, whom we traded some correspondence. I gave her my IP address to see if indeed there is a block on it. However I have not heard back from her in almost 24 hours. In addition, I also posted to their support forums and have not received an answer.

I am also getting the same 403 forbidden error on my keyword feeds into my feedreader.

I certainly hope that this is not intentional, but all things indicate that it is. I hope technorati issues some sort of response to this.

I have been banned from Technorati…

Posted by thescrappyemailmarketer on July 11, 2007

or at least I can’t get to their site. I wonder if they are doing this intentionally since I blogged about them. I cannot access them from either my work laptop or my mac.

I get this error:

Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
