Welcome to my little corner of the marketing world. My name is Andrew Kordek and I am currently the Manager of Optimization at Groupon. I have spent almost 17 years in sales and marketing, am a recognized email industry expert and an avid learner of new ways to become a better marketer. I am bold in my approach to marketing and love to push the envelope as often as I get. I understand the mentality of the sales side and market in reality, rather than corporate fluff. I am an advocate in doing what is right, rather than what is quick.
I blog for passion and love of marketing.
I am a competitive softball player with an incredible family life. I enjoy my privacy when I am off the grid and I love hanging out at home raising my son, being a great husband and grilling and chillin in the summer time. Music, church, family, the Cubs and football are five things that I hold sacred.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and if you have any suggestions, feel free to drop me a line.

Andrew,
I wonder if you could give me (us) an update on your viral Quest videos. I would really appreciate your comments on lessons learned if it’s possible?

Hey, like the blog…it’s personal with some information regarding corporate tech & Quest info thrown in there for good measure. Like it a lot.
Funny thing was I saw your address (thescrappysoftwaremarketer), and I almost thought it said theCrappysoftwaremarketer, and thought “that’s not a good name…”
Nonetheless, I got a good laugh out of it!
Will be checking back again (btw, LOVE SoW).
Regards,
Rob

Hey Rob-
Great Blog! Just stopped by to let you know about our company DiscoverOrg at http://www.discoverorg.com. We provide contact information on the key technology executives and managers and small to midsize companies — companies with less than $1.7 billion in revenue. We provide these contacts through our online contact database and also provide reporting structure for them in org chart format.
I thought that our product might be of interest to you after reading your blog. Give me a call or send me an email if you’d be interested in learning more.
Keep up the good work here.

I checked out the discoverorg database myself. It is very extensive and would be an awesome contact list to have. I am trying to get my sales manager to purchase it for our company.

Hey Andrew – I’m having some difficulties submitting a relevant comment to the thread at http://thescrappysoftwaremarketer.wordpress.com/2007/09/11/eventgainnet-a-fraud-email/#respond
Won’t accept my comment – just generates a blank page with the word “discard” on it. Any special requirements for posting?
Thanks

@Steve none that I am aware of. Can you post your comment here and I can then cycle it over?

Here it is – might be a bit too long…
=========================================
This is a very true story – and it is much more widespread than you might think.
These people are not one company, but a network of company umbrella names that they use to defraud companies across the country. You might get an email from EventGain, SixChannels, OptinLists – or any number of others.
It appears that they are owned by a Parent Company Sloan Marketing out of India.

Ask yourself these questions – if they are in fact a legitimate company, why do their primary listed business #s go into a generic voice mail box.
Why do the require you to send them a company check in full prior to starting work?
Why do they need to run the same business under so many multiple company names?
Bottom line – do your homework and beware.

I tried – but it doesn’t seem to take. It’s fairly long – has lots of information in it related to the thread. Around 900 characters. Perhaps I’m exceeding allowable limits?
Thanks for all your help
